this is awesome. it took me a while to realize the gob count included diagonals, but eventually i finished.... the practice round. perhaps i will return for the gold another day when i am more courageous

thanks for playing and congrats… on the practice round! do come back when you’re ready for the real challenge ;)))

I've gotten so close to getting one round several times but I don't think it's happening, let alone getting the gold lol. but thats part of the fun because all the game over messages are really good. really creative use of the engine

(+1)

yes, actually reading the game over messages was the true goal all along!

I completed all the other games in the jam (so far) except this one, so I finally decided to actually play it. It took a billion tries but I got the goblin gold. It requires a lot of luck but the challenge of having to keep the goblin locations in your head (instead of having a marker like in minesweeper) was exciting.

i am glad you were able to squeeze out some enjoyment out of it, congrats on getting the goblin gold! and yes the strategy for playing this one efficiently is a bit different from playing minesweeper (on top of requiring a ton of luck)

I love seeing people take RPG Maker and do fun, unconventional things like this.  I may suck at Minesweeper, but I spent a good amount of time getting Goblin'd anyway xD

i do want to believe there is more than one way to have fun in this game. one is to solve the riddle and get the gold, the other is to just get goblin’d

i love unconventional rm2k3 hijinks

me too!

a true banger

glad it blew you away!

not bad (happy emoji)...... for a practice round that is (gutted emoji)

no one said the goblin’s challenge is going to be fair!

i am not worthy of the goblin gold. but i had fun trying! very cool thing to do with 2k3's event system, and especially to do with this particular cutter map

(1 edit) (+1)

goblin gold is only for the lucky few! like someone wrote in comments below there is quite a lot of 50/50s here - next time i make a puzzle in rmaker i’ll try to make something that’s always solvable!

This is a really really smart idea to do with the engine? I've never seen someone make a minesweeper goblin gold getter type puzzle in it before :O

And it's dynamic too? Or at least has a handful of prebuilt arrangements? I'm mentally chewing on how it works, it's really awesome ^^

(+1)

thank youuu! yes this is a proper goblinsweeper-like, and yes the arrangement of the goblins is dynamic. each barrel has a corresponding variable, and there is an initialization event that autoruns at the start of the level, iterates through the barrels at random and sets the variables to 1 until all goblins have been distributed :))

Hrmm, I see. I'll have to like, put that in my notebook. I toy with tricky implementations sometimes (right now I'm fussing with something like one of those stop/start golf gauges in RM2K), so it's informative to see other advanced techniques like this distribution loop :3

I got the goblin gold!

The start makes it just trial and error before you can clear a tiny bit out. And after that you can still get 50/50's of course. But it's a cute little game

(+1)

yaaay congrats, you are worthy! and yes, i think also the shape of the map slightly increases the amount of guesswork you have to do. all the more good job on the win!
